Name: Patrick Surtain IIPosition: CornerbackCollege: AlabamaHeight: 6’2”Weight: 208 lbs (pro day) Overall Rank: No. 7 overallPosition Rank: CB1 Strengths: The son of a Pro Bowl cornerback, Surtain has all the athletic tools NFL teams want at the position. He checks the boxes for height, length, speed, short area quickness, and overall athleticism. He’s competitive and tough, having faced elite receivers both in practice and games over the last three years. An excellent press man cornerback, Surtain uses his length well to fight at the line of scrimmage and has the speed to run with top receivers to stay in phase. His footwork is smooth, clean and well-timed. He’s a veteran at the position despite being an early-entrant to the draft class. Surtain rarely lost in college despite seeing dangerous opponents often in the SEC and college football playoffs. He’s tough and feisty against the run, too. Calling a cornerback “can’t-miss” is difficult, but Surtain is pretty close to can’t-miss.
