Well, the Carolina Panthers and New York Jets really messed up the plan for this mock draft. Instead of forging on with picks that would be outdated due to the trade—and a massive domino effect that throws off multiple team’s plans—we’re scrapping and starting over.
So, apologies for a re-start, but don’t worry. A full, updated 7-rounder is coming soon. That and a Top 300 Big Board will be featured next week.
In the meantime, what kind of content do YOU want to see between now and the Draft?
I would like to see a round 1 mock where for each pick, it (1) guesses at what that team's available top 5 board looks like, (2) says who you would pick and (3) guesses at who they will pick.
Something along these lines
10. Dallas.
Big Board guess: 1A) Surtain, 1B) Parsons, 3) Horn, 4) Z. Collins, 5) Farley
Write up: If Pitts or Sewell had lasted to 10, Dallas would have had to have some tough conversations about whether to take them. Miami at 6 and Carolina at 8 took that decision out of their hands, but now they have to debate Surtain v. Parsons. Defensive back is a position of greater need, but Parsons is a more disruptive player. If -- BIG IF -- Sean Lee and Jaylon Smith are healthy and playing well, they wouldn't need Parsons, but those three together would make life easier for Dan Quinn and also make it hellish for opposing offenses. I think there is enough DB depth in the draft that Dallas could still get help in the later rounds, but I understand why they would take Surtain.
I would love to see a “range of players” breakdown. Like a mock but more like “these are the players your team could take at this pick” would be great to get a feel for what directions our teams could take without getting set at any one guy and teams thoughts on players are different so it wouldn’t necessarily be the big board again. maybe just for round one and two?
One interesting piece Matt would be how a GM's job security you believe impacts their selections for all 32 teams. Ie we assume the Bears are extra aggressive for a QB and sacrifice future capital vs a Lions can be more contrastive
how to fix teams, free agency grades and i really liked when you would dig into prospects that were day 3. I felt much more knowledgable when it wasnt the top 3 rd guys I knew
It would be interesting to see which players that you have differing opinions on from other draft analysts/scouts and why you think that is the case. For example, you project someone as a mid round talent, but others often project him in the first, or something like that.
I mean I'll be the one to say it, but best fanasty/dynasty fits. Scheme fits, this player would do well with "x" scheme, or maybe even a breakdown of how certain NFL teams run their offense or defense.
What about the guys with the biggest gap between floor and ceiling because of scheme they get drafted into? Or who is the most scheme dependent to become a success, who is more scheme-proof?
One thing I'd love to see, and it might already be out there is your "undervalued" players at each position. We've seen some of the folks you really like start ascending the draft boards, guys like Jamin Davis, Kelvin Joseph, Ernest Jones etc. Who are the 3rd day guys that should be going higher? Keep up the incredible work, I look forward to your content everyday.
I would like to see you rate the offensive lineman because I feel this draft is loaded with productive players . I am a big Giants fan And I believe they are going to pick OLine if a good one is there. There will also be good value down the line as well.
Betting lines in Las Vegas are narrowing between Mac Jones-Justin Fields at #3. The national football media folks would have us believe the hyper secretive 49ers brain trust is suddenly leaking like a sieve. Local beat guys and players are far less convinced. Justin Fields makes the most sense. That is why the fan base is so animated.
Would be interesting to hear 1) which players are most polarizing, 2) have you heard any whispers re: medical concerns and 3) playoff teams rumoured to be looking at big jumps up in round one? (Similar to the Saints trade for Davenport a few years ago)
This one is very different. But, if you could tell us your story of how you got to Bleacher Report, until you got to where you are at this point, that would be great!!
Probably not something for the weeks before the draft, but I would like to see more about your process behind evaluating prospects, for example: What are the qualities you look for when evaluating prospects? Did you made adjustments in your scouting process over the years? And what should we look for if we want to evaluate a player?
Would love to see scheme fits for teams especially Chargers. And a breakdown of the CB’s - specifically the Round 2-3 guys and what kind of schemes they fit. And then Day 3 sleepers.
Maybe it's on the site already somewhere, but I would love to get insight into your grading process (i.e. how to rank players playing different positions; how do you come up with your grades; how much does durability play a role in the grading, etc.). Content is awesome and keep up the great work.
Matt I absolutely love this draft as well as watching you on tv. As a suffering Giant fan the draft is my favorite sporting event every year. Thanks for all the info
Would love to see a look back at your way too early mock from right after last years draft and see you talk about some of the players that fell out and some that rose
I'd love to see some "how to fix the _______" pieces.
And the rumor mill stuff is always interesting.
Like this a lot.
Seconded. Love this idea, Trent.
What are the updated positional needs for each team?
Great call.

Dallas's pick: Surtain.
My pick: Parsons
Love this
Sorry for cussing you under my breath when I didn’t see my mock draft emails the last few days!
I've been cussing the Panther and Jets, so I get it.

Scheme fits, rumor mill and 1 best bet draft pick for each team based on their most pressing needs.
It would be interesting to see which players that you have differing opinions on from other draft analysts/scouts and why you think that is the case. For example, you project someone as a mid round talent, but others often project him in the first, or something like that.
Might be difficult to do since Matt doesn't read other people's draft content.
Are podcasts or some sort of tape breakdown in play at all?
Yeah rumors is good too!
I mean I'll be the one to say it, but best fanasty/dynasty fits. Scheme fits, this player would do well with "x" scheme, or maybe even a breakdown of how certain NFL teams run their offense or defense.
I'll be doing a lot post-draft on scheme fits. Players whose stock increases based on where they landed, scheme, etc.
I will double up on what RyKo58 said. Scheme fits. Which guys may fit in with one team but not another.
What about the guys with the biggest gap between floor and ceiling because of scheme they get drafted into? Or who is the most scheme dependent to become a success, who is more scheme-proof?
I like this idea

I love the "what you've been hearing" mocks and scouting notebooks... as you're giving us real info that you're hearing
When you do your top 300 Big Board a way to quickly access reports written by you on each player
Number one, I can't wait to see your top 300 with grades and scouting reports. I look forward to that every year!
What about discussing NFL draft props? Make us a little money! 💰💰
I would like to see you rate the offensive lineman because I feel this draft is loaded with productive players . I am a big Giants fan And I believe they are going to pick OLine if a good one is there. There will also be good value down the line as well.
Seconded
Scheme fits. Mock drafts are more fanciful - scheme fits more useful 👍
I like trades... not anything crazy. But teams like ATL, MN, Lions??? if a prospect falls always cool to see what teams would trade up.. jmo

Rumour mill is always good too.
I think a cool idea would be a first round mock draft and include best fit and worst fit for the top players at that spot/linked to teams
I'd love to see more about the late-round guys that could make an impact if they land in the right spot?
My goal this year is to recognize every name that's drafted.
Players that would be perfect fit for teams schemes or systems that they can realistically draft
It would be cool to see another community mock. Did the last one ever go past round 1?
It did. I'll be posting the full results next week once it's done.
This one is very different. But, if you could tell us your story of how you got to Bleacher Report, until you got to where you are at this point, that would be great!!
Can't wait for another mock! :)

Can count on A LOT of that this summer
Would love to see scheme fits for teams especially Chargers. And a breakdown of the CB’s - specifically the Round 2-3 guys and what kind of schemes they fit. And then Day 3 sleepers.

Do one on the risers and fallers
Small School/ Late Round diamonds in the rough!
I would love to see hidden gems in this draft
Late round Perfect Fits for all teams
Would like to see a mock draft that has your view of the perfect picks (as opposed to basing on what you’re hearing or think teams will do).
Some of my favorite content from you guys was the How to Fix each team. Also create a trade board of your dream trades.
Could the Bucs really end of with two retired NFL players sons (Juniors as that) in their secondary?
Drinking games with Mello
Would love to see player scout details. Honing my scouting and evaluation skills.
I was wondering if you were going to continue after the trade. It throws off our mock that was going very well yet we will finish today hopefully.
When mocks were first coming out I saw alot of Trevon Moehrig falling to the cowboys in the second. Why has his draft position improved (for him)?
Matt I absolutely love this draft as well as watching you on tv. As a suffering Giant fan the draft is my favorite sporting event every year. Thanks for all the info
Designate what players would best fit 3-4 end or nose in rankings.
Would love to see a look back at your way too early mock from right after last years draft and see you talk about some of the players that fell out and some that rose
Breakdown of the strongest positions in this draft. How many draftable players, breakdown by rounds expected to be taken.
A composite board or ranking by position of guys over the last 3 years to see how prospects stack up against eachother.
Would love to see more rumor mill content
A list of the 2nd tier receiver
How about draft sleepers with floor/ceiling player comps? We love active player comps🤤
I’d love to see full breakdowns of all my FSU draft eligible players and if they have a future moving forward
