Let’s get to the questions…
Week 10 Mailbag
Will Donoghue: Where does this current Offensive Tackle class currently stand in the 2025 NFL draft?
It’s not good! The class was hyped in the preseason thanks to Kelvin Banks Jr. and Will Campbell, but neither player has lived up to their expectations. Both players are seen by NFL scouts as potential guard prospects. An early-season riser in Josh Simmons was lost for the year with a knee injury, but he had the look of becoming a top tackle. I do like Minnesota left tackle Aireontae Ersery and Texas right tackle Cameron Williams has traits, but both are still putting it together. I do think we’ll see five tackles drafted in Round 1 based on need and positional value, but no player has emerged as a truly elite tackle prospect.
Kyle James: What’s the current projection on Rourke from IU? What if he leads IU to the playoffs?
Indiana quarterback Kurtis Rourke has been amazing this year leading the Hoosiers to an undefeated 9-0 start. As a draft prospect, he’s intriguing, but ranks right now as a Day 3 prospect. Rourke has great size (6’5”, 223 lbs), he’s limiting his turnovers and bad plays, and he’s taking advantage of downfield options in an offensive scheme that’s wide open and fun to watch. A deep playoff run would help push him up and give scouts more exposure to him, but I don’t see the traits to make him a top 100 draft pick.
Rodney Saulsberry Sr: Is DT Bryson Eason from Tennessee rising up draft boards?
I haven’t seen that from him. Eason is outside my top 200, but he’s definitely someone I will revisit in December when individual focused scouting starts. The one Tennessee defender I do think is moving up is Omarr Norman-Lott. He’s having a fantastic season and has put himself into the Round 3 range.
Peter Letarte: Who are the top interior OL players in this year’s draft in your eyes?
This is a good interior offensive line class. Let’s start by eliminating the tackles that will potentially move to guard—guys like Banks, Campbell, Emery Jones (LSU), Jonah Savaiinaea (Arizona) and Jalen Rivers (Miami). Here’s what we’re left with as far as top 150 picks:
Guard — Dylan Fairchild (Georgia), Tyler Booker (Alabama), Jaeden Roberts (Alabama), Donovan Jackson (Ohio State)
Center — Jared Wilson (Georgia), Logan Jones (Iowa)
Tom Gallagher: I know someone who works for a scouting service. He compared Cam Ward to Anthony Richardson. Do you see some of the same issues with Ward?
I don’t see the same issues. My biggest complaint with Richardson was his lack of starting experience and reps with just 13 starts under his belt in college. Ward, over the last four seasons, has started 35 games. I don’t quite see that comparison, but Ward is a tough player to find a great comp for. I’m open to ideas on that one!
Games to Watch — Week 10
LSU vs. Alabama (7:30pm ET, ABC)
The marquee matchup of the weekend features two ranked teams and a ton of prospects. Alabama has 10 players ranked inside my top 200 and LSU has six, so this is a game you won’t want to miss. Key individual matchup:
Will Campbell, LT, LSU vs. LT Overton, DE, Alabama
Ole Miss vs. Georgia (3:30pm ET, ABC)
The interior of the Georgia offensive line against a stout Ole Miss defensive line will be a great test. The Rebels absolutely dominated the Arkansas offensive line a week ago, but Georgia is a different animal altogether. Key matchups:
Dylan Fairchild, LG, Georgia and Jared Wilson, OC, Georgia vs. Walter Nolen, DT, Ole Miss
Earnest Greene III, LT, Georgia vs. Princely Umanmielen, DE, Ole Miss
