As a Packers' fan, I have to disagree. Andy Dalton should start.

Fields can play later. Or preferably not at all.

I’m totally with you. You can’t sell a fan base Andy Dalton for 8-10 weeks when you have Justin Fields in the room, especially in Chicago. Matt Nagy has a winning record with Mitch Trubisky, and I think we can all agree Fields is a much more gifted QB. They already have a star WR, a couple good RBs, and a great defense. Juice at QB is the only thing Chicago has been missing for them to take that next step and establish themselves as an elite team for the next decade and a half.

This is the same situation the Ravens were in when they drafted Lamar Jackson. They were a good team with Joe Flacco. The minute Lamar stepped onto the field, they became a great team. Lamar was the juice they needed. He changed the mood of the locker room, gave them an identity, and got them to where they are today — confident about their future.

Great breakdown, Corey! Yeah I believe all the Round 1 QBs should start, outside of Mac Jones due to the peculiar situation with Cam Newton (which I see more as the "his job to lose" scenario, as I think Shanahan has every intention on starting Trey Lance). I would just ike to interject a little.

The rookie QB-vet QB situations of the past are vastly different, but we all use them for reference. The Chiefs roster was a title contender when they traded up for Mahomes. It was a worthy gamble after coming up short for the third year in a row, as these SB windows do not last long. Unlike Alex Smith, Brett Favre was not only a HOF but a SB winner and replacing him deserved as much controversy because of that. So unlike these situations, Fields should definitely start on the merit of the current QB room and trading up for him.

Hopefully you stayed with me to this point, but this is where I might lose you. Nagy deserves more credit. He brought the Bears to the playoffs twice in three years with Mitch Trubisky or Nick Foles at QB. He's clearly doing something right. I'm just not thrilled with the D losing all pro CB Kyle Fuller and DC Chuck Pagano. But, again if they start Fields, can't count them out as at least ranking near the same, if not a little better.
