Name: Sage Surratt
College: Wake Forest
Height: 6’2 1/2”
Weight: 209 lbs
Overall Rank: 159
Position Rank: WR23
Strengths: A big, powerful option in the slot, Surratt opted out of the 2020 season after a fantastic 2019 campaign. He’s able to sky above defenders and attacks 50/50 passes like a small forward going up for a rebound. His concentration and toughness at the catch point are winning traits. He knows how to use his length to find production, especially in the red zone, and was dynamic in 2019 over the middle and throughout intermediate routes. Surratt has a big frame that could add more mass if teams wanted him to make a move to an H-back or flex tight end role.
Weaknesses: A lack of twitch and speed are major factors in the evaluation of Surratt. He lives and dies with contested catches and doesn’t routinely find space in his route tree. Surratt has to be schemed space as he can’t separate with speed and quickness unless he’s matched up against linebackers or safeties from the slot.
What I Love: Surratt attacks the football. He might not have great speed or quickness, but his hunger for catches is fantastic.
