Robert Rochell 2021 NFL Draft Scouting Report
Name: Robert Rochell
Position: Cornerback
College: Central Arkansas
Height: 6’0”
Weight: 193 lbs (pro day)
Overall Rank: No. 92 overall
Position Rank: CB10
Strengths: Speed. Pure, raw, electric speed. Rochell might be the fastest cornerback in the class and it shows in the open field. He has an electric combination of size, speed, and length that should make man coverage teams sit up and take notice. Rochell can work in press coverage at the line of scrimmage and has had plenty of success jamming up receivers. His recovery speed and agility are top-tier and he has the vertical skills to high-point and win 50/50 challenges. From a traits perspective, Rochell is very underrated compared to the rest of the 2021 cornerback class. If he’s able to develop better technique—which is coachable—he can be the steal of the corner class.
Weaknesses: Level of competition is very tough to evaluate for Rochell coming out of Central Arkansas. He’s so athletic and twitchy that he hasn’t had to learn technique or been exposed by a lack of it. Against more refined and crisp routes, his balance and body control could be a weakness as he labors through transitions at times.
What I Love: You can’t coach speed and athleticism; or the fire Rochell plays with. His technique needs cleaned up on transitions and breaking routes but his long speed and love to compete on jump balls is electric.
