Name: Rashod Bateman
Position: WR
College: Minnesota
Height: 6’1"
Weight: 190 lbs (pro day)
Overall Rank: No. 50 overall
Position Rank: WR7
Strengths: A versatile wide receiver prospect with two years of excellent production at Minnesota, Bateman opted out of the 2020 after five starts. Bateman’s route-running is ideal with quick cuts, strong movements and refined technique. Facing man or press coverage, Bateman is big enough to beat defenders at the line of scrimmage. He plays much bigger than his measured weight. While not a burner, Bateman can create separation with his body and his routes. He has soft hands and is a very natural pass-catcher.
Weaknesses: Bateman’s 2020 season was a weird one. He saw his yards-after-catch ability almost disappear after being a very good open-field runner in 2019. He also came in 20 pounds lighter than listed—just 6’1”, 190 pounds. Bateman is a possession receiver with average top-end speed and acceleration.
What I Love: Bateman is reliable. As consistent of a pass-catcher as you’ll find in the 2021 class, he’s able to win on underneath and breaking routes and is the type of sure-thing a young NFL quarterback needs.
