Rashad Weaver 2021 NFL Draft Scouting Report
Name: Rashad Weaver
College: Pitt
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 259
Overall Rank: No. 91 overall
Position Rank: EDGE15
Strengths: A size, length and strength prospect with the versatility to play multiple roles along a four-or-three-man front. Weaver has excellent hand use and showed throughout his career and at the Senior Bowl that he can win by getting skinny through gaps or by using his hands to disengage from blockers. He can play on the edge or inside the tackle box and has dominated in the run game as a penetrator. He can set the edge in the run game and has the power to anchor. Weaver best profiles as a 3-4 defensive end but he should be seen as a versatile, multiple front player.
Weaknesses: A lack of quickness and overall athleticism do show up, especially in Senior Bowl practices when Weaver was surrounded by elite players. He has to work on lowering his pad height and playing with better leverage and balance. While he has length and strength, he doesn’t have the twitch in his game to beat blockers with his first step and could become a run-only defender very quickly.
What I Love: Weaver’s production the last two years in the ACC can’t be ignored. He was a consistent performer against the best competition he faced and plays with a red hot motor and great intensity.
