With the 2021 NFL Draft now in the rearview mirror, the time has come for us to begin analyzing team rosters, team schedules, team depth charts, and much more! Identifying rookies that could win the NFL Rookie of the Year award is always a fun offseason discussion.
Last year, an overlooked quarterback in Justin Herbert came in and set the league on fire with several rookie records. Herbert wasn’t even suppose to start as early as he did, and yet he accomplished things not many predicted he would.
Will another rookie quarterback have the same early success?
Will a wide receiver emerge as the top offensive rookie this upcoming season?
Who do you like to win OROY? Give us your predictions right here.
Trey Lance if he somehow beats out Garoppolo in training camp. We know Jimmy is a terrible practice player so there's a chance and with the situation Lance is in, with everyone healthy, wow.
Yeah I agree, Kand. Looking at Justin Herbert, he actually did join a great situation offensively, with a great offensive minded coach in Anthony Lynn. He didn't even start til Week 3 I think. So if Trey Lance can take over some time early on with that roster he wouldn't even have to be great starting out, just good.
Hey PBLock. Honestly I had Najee as a top 5 talent. I do believe the Steelers have to have confidence that their OL is at least playable and if that is the case, Najee will produce.
Najee. Or Kyle Pitts. Najee because of the opportunity Pittsburgh will give him on the ground and in the air. And Pitts should be the betting favorite if he’s healthy because Matt Ryan will love having a middle of the field target with Julio and Ridley on the outside.
Hey Nate! I can appreciate the love for the young kid, but Robert Woods is pretty good too, and last year they were really high on Van Jefferson, their first pick in last year's draft. I do not expect DeSean Jackson to be much of a factor trying to bring back that deep ball speed they had with Brandin Cooks, so I expect Tutu to takeover that role.
I agree with you. I think Jackson is washed. I think Tutu battles Jefferson for the #3 WR position. I was mainly looking for someone who was under the radar and not just a first rounder.
Hey I gotta support that thinking! I literally started mine with "if I were betting I would go Kyle Pitts", but I'm not high on him personally. But cmon think scarier, 4-WR set with Kupp, Woods, VJ, and Tutu. Scary for Stafford.
Sleeper Pick: RB Trey Sermon, 49ers
I did have Sermon as my RB4 but my drop off wasn't as distant as most from the top 3. I have been saying that the Niners need a true RB1 because Mostert is serviceable, has been great for them, but he isn't that. Sermon is huge, and a legit RB. In Shanahan's system, even with a RB committee he could become a star. I absolutely believe that and I even had them drafting him in Round 3.
If I were betting I would go TE Kyle Pitts with the Falcons. If the kid is as advertised this is a sweet position lining up opposite Hayden Hurst on the line, in between Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley. Last year Matty Ice threw 45k yards and 26 TDs. Todd Gurley (who is no longer on the team) accounted for 9 red zone TDs. They currently lack a pure red zone option and in Coach Arthur Smith's system racked in 8 TDs. Pitts could come in and take on that role. Maybe throw in a TE sweep or two and again, IF as advertised, he should do numbers.
Yeah Reggie. If it weren't for Justin Herbert doing what he did, Justin Jefferson would have been a runaway for OROY. I think even if Burrow and Chase do not pick up where they left off Joey could still give him volume to produce.
Yeah for mine, I literally took the second lowest hanging fruit and said if I were betting I think Kyle Pitts has the best odds after TLaw. I just don't see the Jags going geek to sheik but hopefully I'm wrong there. I'm personally not high on Pitts myself like everyone else, but he is in an absolutely perfect situation whether Julio stays in ATL or not. Matt Ryan still has plenty of game left, Coach Smith loves TEs, and Calvin Ridley is too legit. So if he's who they say he is, Pitts should kill it.

najee
Good one! If the Steelers offensive line plays better, he could certainly have an elite rookie season!

Tutu Atwell. McVey and Stafford, and outside of Kuup, who else do they have who is legit? He'll have plenty of opportunities.

Ahhhh! How could I forget Woods! Damn!!

I like Zach Wilson because he's guaranteed the starting job and has better betting odds than Lawrence.
Realistically, this should be Lance, because Shanahan is Shanahan.

Trey Lance would be my pick
Steelers o-line is very questionable right now
