We have another beautiful weekend of college football games with money to be made. The theme of the week is going to be favorites and covers. Only Dawgs I’m picking this week are the ones in Georgia.
UCF @ 3 Cincinnati (-21), 11:00 CT, ABC
I don’t know which number is more shocking to see - Cincinnati ranked at No. 3 or favored by 21? Either way I like both numbers for the Bearcats. Quarterback Desmond Ridder has led the Bearcats to 41 points per game this season, while the UCF defense is giving up 27.4 points per game. That tells me Ridder and the offense is in for a big game and the Cincinnati defense is one of the best in the American Conference - leading to a big win for the Bearcats. I’m taking Cincinnati to cover the 21.
20 Florida (-11) @ LSU, 11:00 CT, ESPN
This is going to be a rough game for LSU. They are without their top two corners (Derek Stingley and Eli Ricks) and star sophomore receiver Kayshon Boutte. And, LSU hasn’t been playing well when those studs are on the field. LSU has dropped two in a row against Kentucky and Auburn and Florida will make it three in a row. The question is do they cover the 11 points? I don’t think so. Florida’s two losses were to a good Alabama team and a hot Kentucky team - not bad losses. The Florida defense is also only allowing 16.5 points per game this season even after giving up 31 to Bama. LSU is going to struggle to move the ball against Florida and with the Tigers being so banged up on defense Florida should have no problem scoring against LSU. I like Florida to cover the 11 points.
21 Texas A&M (-9) @ Missouri, 11:00 CT, SEC Network
If Zach Calzada is comfortable in this offense they should be able to put points on any team in the SEC. Calzada looked very good against Alabama and should have the confidence he needs after two poor performances against Arkansas and Mississippi State. Missouri is giving up a ridiculous 37.5 points per game this season and A&M just put 41 on Alabama! Texas A&M might drop a 50 burger on Missouri - easily covering the 9 points. Bonus pick: SMASH the over (59.5)
11 Kentucky @ 1 Georgia (-23), 2:30 CT, CBS
Georgia gets another top 25 opponent this weekend with undefeated Kentucky coming to Athens but the result will probably be the same as all the others. The Georgia defense is too good and allows just 5.5 points per game - and remember they’ve played three top 25 teams so far. Kentucky is a nice story but their offense is not going to be able to score on the Georgia defense. I like Georgia to score enough points to cover the 23 point spread and they might even do it with a 24 to 0 score. I’m not betting against Georgia for a while and definitely not this weekend.
5 Alabama (-17) @ Mississippi State, 6:00 CT, ESPN
An Alabama team coming off a loss might be scarier than an undefeated Alabama. However, Mississippi State did beat Texas A&M.... so… No chance! Mississippi State is going to get rolled in this one. Nick Saban doesn't lose two in a row and Mississippi State will be sacrificed so Slick Nick can prove his team still deserves to be in the top four and Bryce Young will throw for 400 yards and four tuddies. Alabama easily covers the 17 points.
18 Arizona State @ Utah (EVEN), 9:00 CT, ESPN
Arizona State @ Utah is the perfect Pac 12 after dark game. No one will really be paying attention to it but it will be an exciting game with big lead changes and high scoring. The even spread makes me want to take the home team but I like how Arizona State has been playing after two wins against Stanford and UCLA. And that’s why I’m going to take the Sun Devils in this one. Arizona State running back Rachaad White is due for a 100 yard rushing game and this could be it for the senior as the Sun Devils will have to have their guys go off against a good defense.
I just made this parlay. Let’s hope it hits
