Paulson Adebo 2021 NFL Draft Scouting Report
Name: Paulson Adebo
Overall Rank: No. 144 overall
Position Rank: CB17
Strengths: Adebo is a long outside cornerback who played both off-man coverage and zone coverage at Stanford. Adebo is a smooth defender, he doesn’t waste any of his motions and moves relatively quick with an effortless-like manner. Adebo has great speed for a cornerback and while he isn’t the fastest defender on the field, his speed and burst should keep up with most receivers at the NFL level. Adebo is willing to run all over the field, if asked. He isn’t afraid to cover, tackle, or blitz.
Weaknesses: Adebo has had some issues with consistency. There’s been several cases in games where his aggressive play gets the worst of him, causing him to get beat on routes he typically doesn’t. Occasions where he went too hard on a double-move and the receiver beat him. He’s also shown some confusion at times when being asked to drop back into zone coverage.
What I Love: Adebo has consistently shown a competitive toughness as both a run defender and ball attacker. He’s uber-aggressive when making a tackle and his competitiveness is constantly on display each and every snap. Adebo’s style of play make him a versatile defender in any NFL scheme. He has the mental and physical tools to become an eventual starting outside cornerback, with continued development.
