The transfer portal has been an exciting addition to college football. In years past it has been a way for good players at small programs to transfer to big time programs. However, this summer it has emerged into something different - players look for big paydays. And I don’t blame them. Let’s take a look at how the transfer portal will impact the 2024 college football season.
QUARTERBACK:
Dillon Gabriel, Oregon from Oklahoma
Will Howard, Ohio State from Kansas State
Riley Leonard, Notre Dame from Duke
Cameron Ward, Miami from Washington State
DJ Uiagalelei, Florida State from Oregon State/Clemson
Julian Sayin, Ohio State from Alabama
Dante Moore, Oregon from UCLA
Highlights: Oregon scored an outstanding 44.2 points a game with Bo Nix at quarterback in 2023. I don’t expect the production to dip in 2024 with Dillon Gabriel leading the offense. Gabriel threw for 3660 yards and 30 TDs at Oklahoma this year and he is joining an offense with a lot more talent this season.
