Nico Collins 2021 NFL Draft Scouting Report
Name: Nico Collins
Position: WR
College: Michigan
Height: 6’4 1/8"
Weight: 215 lbs (pro day)
Overall Rank: No. 65 overall
Position Rank: WR9
Strengths: A height/weight/speed prospect with an excellent build and great long-speed, Collins is a post-up threat who can body smaller defenders. He has enough vertical speed to separate over the top and uses his frame to out-muscle defenders for positioning. He’s long enough to high-point the ball and attack 50/50 throws. There is plenty of untapped potential to Collins’ game as the Michigan passing game was held back by poor quarterback play throughout his career there. Collins could be a dangerous fade and back-shoulder fade specialist early in his career.
Weaknesses: A lack of twitch and looseness in his lower body keeps Collins from being the route-runner you’d like him to be. He’ll win on slants and breaking routes, but doesn’t have the agility to beat defenders on double moves. He’s not a creator after the catch and can appear heavy-footed in transitions.
What I Love: Collins has elite NFL size. He’s a raw route-runner, but a smart NFL team will let him run what he knows as he expands his abilities in the pros.
