NFL Update: Top 10 Senior Bowl Winners and Latest Rumors—Where do Aaron Rodgers, Kyler Murray and others play in 2023?
Senior Bowl week is among the most important events on the calendar every NFL offseason. Scouts, coaches, general managers and scouting directors flood Mobile, Alabama alongside media members and roughly 120 of the best college prospects in the nation.
The result? Players moving up and down draft boards, but also a ton of information coming out of those very front offices in town to evaluate the best prospects.
And that’s why you get a two-part article today: the top 10 winners for those interested in players moving up the board and a look at the top rumors circling around the bars of Mobile.
Top 10 Winners
10. John Michael Schmitz, OC, Minnesota
You could argue there was no better offensive lineman at the Senior Bowl than the Minnesota center. Schmitz is powerful, agile, aggressive and he moves great in space as a pulling blocker. He has legit late-first ability and could be the answer to OL problems in places like Dallas, the NY Giants and Bills.
9. Keeanu Benton, DT, Wisconsin
Benton had first round hype heading into the season but didn’t quite take the next step as a pass-rusher on tape. He sure did at the Senior Bowl. Benton’s quickness and his toolbox full of pass rush moves helped his draft status immensely. He’s a solid Round 2 candidate.
8. Derick Hall, DE, Auburn
Hall started the week off well measuring in at 6’3 1/2” and 241 pounds—both great numbers for him. He’s a true stand-up rusher who will want to play in space to use his length and speed to beat NFL tackles. He’s a late first-rounder who might slip to the early second round, but not much farther.
7. Julius Brents, CB, Kansas State
Brents was the talk of the town after the first day of practice and had an overall very good week. He’s a big cornerback at almost 6’4” and routinely man-handles receivers at the line of scrimmage. Brents won’t be for every defense, but if you run a lot of Cover 3 he’s your guy.
