Want to know who is going to win the Super Bowl?
Come back in January. But we can tell you the teams who are legitimate contenders to hoist the Lombardi Trophy in February of 2025.
As always, we’re looking at teams from a standpoint of talent, coaching, quarterback play (have to have it to win a title), and how well teams are built to sustain a season. We’ve seen clubs like the Miami Dolphins be able to come out red hot and run up wins in the early weeks of the season, but who is built to thrive over an 18 week season?
Let’s jump in, starting at No. 32.
Playing for Draft Status
32. Carolina Panthers
This isn’t an indictment on Bryce Young alone, but sadly the Panthers have the worst owner, worst roster and most unproven coaching staff in the league. Could Dave Canales and Young shock the world? Sure, but a look at the 53-man in Carolina has us thinking it’s more likely they’ll compete for the No. 1 overall pick (again) before challenging in the NFL’s weakest division.
31. New England Patriots
The 2024 season will be a transitional one. The Patriots need to build up the offensive supporting cast before thrusting rookie Drake Maye under center—even if we do see him play in the back half of the season to get some experience. This, frankly, is a bad offensive roster and there’s no Bill Belichick here to coach up the defense to carry them.
30. Denver Broncos
I’m higher on the future in Denver than the present, with Sean Payton and David Shaw reunited to build the team. Bo Nix is solid, experienced, and has a chance to be very good here. The defense lacks a spark in the front seven, but has the league’s best cornerback in Patrick Surtain II leading the way. Unfortunately, they play in a division with Patrick Mahomes. To overtake the Chiefs, this roster has to be great, and it’s not close to that yet.
