NFL Draft Positional Value Tiers

In the NFL Draft we always refer to “positional value” as a reason a player should or shouldn’t be drafted. But what is positional value? Certain positions carry more value than others - especially when you get team specific! Let’s break down these positions into tiers and what makes some more important than others. 

Tier One
Quarterback

The quarterback position is undoubtedly the most important position in football, maybe all of sports. Teams without a good quarterback are barely competitive and if they are it’s usually because of a historic defense. 

The quarterback is in charge of the offense and can change the entire franchise with their play. Quarterbacks are the “must have” position in the NFL and will be for the foreseeable future - unless we see teams revert back to a more run dominant offense. 

Tier Two
Offensive Tackle, Pass Rusher (edge/outside linebacker, defensive end, defensive tackle)
