These are all terms you hear in the media when what the reporters are really hearing is that a player has mental health concerns or substance abuse problems. Sure, sometimes it’s a situation where a player is simply immature or lazy and that gets grouped under the vague “character concerns” heading.
But as NFL teams prepare to not only invest millions of dollars into these players but also bet their jobs, the jobs of their assistants, and the comforts of their families on draft picks things like maturity and drive matter.
We’ve seen two weeks of college football play and already scouts are buzzing about which players to stay away from or that have question marks on their character report. Here are a few we’re hearing cautionary tales about.
