Milton Williams 2021 NFL Draft Scouting Report
Name: Milton Williams
College: Louisiana Tech
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 284 lbs
Overall Rank: DL4
Position Rank: No. 90 overall
Strengths: There aren’t many defensive linemen who can matchup with Williams’ athleticism in this class. He put on a show in the pre-draft cycle with 32 bench reps, a 35” vert and a wild 4.63 40 yard dash. That shows up on tape, too, as he’s a tough and physical player who wins with quickness and strength. Williams has a stocky, thick frame and moves like an athlete. His first step is quick and powerful and will be an impact move in the pros. He’s smart and poised and can be quick to diagnose. His motor runs hot and he makes plenty of second-chance plays due to hustle. Williams’ NFL success early on will depend on scheme fit, but he has the talent to play in the pros.
Weaknesses: Williams’ level of competition wasn’t exactly the SEC and teams will wonder why he didn’t produce more given his athleticism and C-USA schedule. At 284 pounds he’s more of a ‘tweener and might not have as much value for every scheme. Williams lacks the length to play inside consistently but doesn’t have the twitch and bend for the edge. His pass-rush gameplan needs work as he’s reliant upon his quick first step and doesn’t counter well.
What I Love: The day Milton Williams participated at the EXOS combine, he also had to present a final to a class virtually. He went out and aced both.
