With the draft order coming into focus, it’s time to stretch our legs and look deeper at the 2024 class of prospects, team needs, scheme fits and projections on where each player will land.

And so, for our subscribers, here is our first two round mock draft of the season.

Six quarterbacks are drafted in the top 64, with each pegged to start from the jump. We’ll also look at a potential landing spot for Justin Fields with the Chicago Bears likely to move on from the soon to be fourth-year quarterback.

Round One

1. Chicago Bears (from Carolina) — QB Caleb Williams, USC

No surprise here. The Bears draft the top overall player in the draft and restart the clock at quarterback.

2. New England Patriots — QB Drake Maye, North Carolina

We fully expect this to be a new regime, and they’ll start over by drafting the big, strong-armed Maye to build around.

3. Arizona Cardinals — WR Marvin Harrison Jr., Ohio State

Arizona builds around Kyler Murray with the first of two selections in Round 1. Harrison, Jr. is arguably the best overall player in the class.

4. Washington Commanders — LT Olu Fashanu, Penn State

Protecting Sam Howell, who has shown flashes, is paramount for Washington. However…a new front office and head coach could go after QB Jayden Daniels here.
