Los Angeles Chargers FIRE GM and Head Coach: Dream Drafting for LA

The Los Angeles Chargers fired general manager Tom Telesco and head coach Brandon Staley after an historic beatdown on Thursday Night Football in Week 15. The Chargers are now one of three teams—joining the Panthers and Raiders—with an opening at head coach.

Part of thinking about the job in front of the next head coach and general manager is that the Chargers’ roster is a mess.

• $40 million OVER the projected 2024 cap

• Top four receivers are the oldest group of leading receivers in the NFL—Keenan Allen, Austin Ekeler, Gerald Everett, Mike Williams

• The defense, former head coach Staley’s speciality, is loaded with overpaid and over-the-hill starters

• Young offensive linemen have failed to develop

So where does ownership go when understanding this is not a quick fix with a rush of free agents coming to town to fill holes. The job in LA is a draft job. It’s a coaching job. It’s a build-from-the bottom job. All while dealing with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the division.
