Levi Onwuzurike 2021 NFL Draft Scouting Report
Name: Levi Onwuzurike
College: Washington
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 290 lbs
Overall Rank: DL3
Position Rank: No. 39 overall
Strengths: The good for Onwuzurike is really good. He’s naturally quick with great strength on a shorter frame. That allows him to rock blockers with a low center of gravity and surprise them with his ability to knife through gaps. Onwuzurike uses his hands very well and can beat blockers with quickness or disengage with his strength. His first step is successful and allows him to beat blockers. Onwuzurike hits like a boxer when his punch lands. He’s very well-rounded from a traits perspective and should continue to develop into a talented pass-rusher and slasher in the run game. His speed, strength and technique could push him into Round 1 if a team buys into his highs.
Weaknesses: An opt out player in 2020, Onwuzurike has just one full season of starting experience under his belt. As mentioned above, his good is really good but there are also notable down plays/stretches for him. Given his size and frame, he may be seen as a scheme-fit only for teams asking him to play 5-technique in a 3-4 base defense.
What I Love: If a team can harness his flashes, Onwuzurike will be a Pro Bowler. Look for a team to pair him with another aggressive athlete and he can flourish.
