Kadarius Toney 2021 NFL Draft Scouting Report
Name: Kadarius Toney
Position: WR
College: Florida
Height: 5’11 5/8"
Weight: 193 lbs (pro day)
Overall Rank: No. 25 overall
Position Rank: WR4
Strengths: Toney explodes off the line of scrimmage with exceptional burst and is among the most agile prospects in the entire draft class. He’s able to shake defenders with loose legs and sharp cuts. His lower-body power allows him to easily plant-and-go. He’s dangerous on underneath routes and can be motioned all over the formation to find matchups that are favorable to the offense. Toney is a very good open-field runner both as a receiver and in the punt return game. He’s an elusive runner with the power to break tackles. A good receiver with solid hands, Toney tracks the ball well and can extend away from his body to make difficult grabs.
Weaknesses: Toney doesn’t flash great straight-line speed and is quicker than fast. He may be limited as a route-runner to underneath and gadget-style touches that are schemed for him. A one-year wonder due to injuries, Toney has to become more refined as a route-runner to expand beyond being a slot player.
What I Love: Put Toney in the slot and he’ll be tough for any defense to account for. He’s tough, competitive and plays like he’s 220 pounds instead of 193. His agility and quickness will be a problem underneath.
