Name: Jevon Holland
Position: Safety
College: Oregon
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 207 lbs (pro day)
Overall Rank: No. 44 overall
Position Rank: S3
Strengths: As the NFL moves toward more versatile safeties, Jevon Holland fits the bill perfectly. A modern cover man, he’s capable of lining up in the slot or as a single-high centerfielder. He’s a quick, smart processor who sees the field and drives on the ball quickly and confidently. His ball skills are NFL caliber with the instincts and hands to flip the field. He’s poised and patient but has click-and-close ability and can be a punishing hitter coming downhill from his perch. Teams looking for a three-down defender will love his experience as a nickel linebacker playing in space off the edge. His tackling ability and versatility should push him into Round 2.
Weaknesses: Pure speed is the biggest thing missing from Holland’s game. He struggles to stay tight with vertical routes and is best matched up against tight ends or running backs instead of slot receivers. If he takes a misstep he’ll struggle to recover and has to time his breaks perfectly as he doesn’t have recovery burst.
What I Love: Holland is the modern defensive back with matchup ability, the toughness to play in the box. He’ll add instant value in all three phases of the defensive game.
