Jermar Jefferson 2021 NFL Draft Scouting Report
Name: Jermar Jefferson
Position: Running Back
College: Oregon State
Height: 5’9”
Weight: 210 lbs
Overall Rank: No. 181 overall
Position Rank: RB12
Strengths: If you’re running a zone scheme and need a bruiser, Jefferson is your running back. He’s a handful for defenses with a powerful frame and punishing mindset. He’ll look to run over defenders and once he gets warmed up he’s hard to stop. Jefferson was highly productive at Oregon State when given carries early in the game to get his motor running. He’s a smart runner who is patient to let blocks develop and good field vision to find inside and outside rushing lanes.
Weaknesses: Limited speed and burst hold Jefferson back from being profiled as a potential NFL starter. He has a stiff, tight lower-body that doesn’t allow him to create much off the cut or in space. The inability to make defenders miss is huge—both before and after the line of scrimmage. His game lacks creativity. Jefferson is not a natural receiver and hasn’t looked comfortable in the passing game.
What I Love: Jefferson is PHYSICAL and pounds defenses until they don’t want to hit him anymore. That style can take a toll on a running back’s body in the NFL, but it also takes a toll on the defense.
