Jaylen Waddle 2021 NFL Draft Scouting Report
Name: Jaylen Waddle
Position: WR
College: Alabama
Height: 5’9 1/2"
Weight: 180 lbs (pro day)
Overall Rank: No. 10 overall
Position Rank: WR3
Strengths: Waddle has elite speed both in his vertical stretch ability and his yards-after-catch runs. He’s able to quickly accelerate and has one of the fastest starts I’ve ever witnessed. Waddle has a thicker frame that is loaded with power that allows him to explode into his route tree. As a deep threat he has the body control and concentration to track the ball well. He’ll eat up press coverage with his raw speed but his lateral agility is equally impressive. This isn’t just a straight-line receiver. He’s an elite athlete and was the most electric player in the nation when healthy.
Weaknesses: An ankle injury cost Waddle a good junk of the 2020 season. He has had some focus drops over the middle as he looks to turn up field before securing the ball.
What I Love: Unlike many undersized speed receivers coming out of college recently, Waddle is an electric playmaker due to his twitch and agility. He can cut, shake and make defenders miss in the open field.
