Jaycee Horn 2021 NFL Draft Scouting Report
Name: Jaycee Horn
Position: Cornerback
College: South Carolina
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 205 lbs (pro day)
Overall Rank: No. 15 overall
Position Rank: CB2
Strengths: A three-year starter and son of former NFL wide receiver Joe Horn, Jaycee broke out in 2020 as he developed into one of the best man coverage cornerbacks in the nation. He has the size, length, and speed to be an effective matchup defender and was routinely asked to cover the opposing team’s best pass-catching threat. He’s scheme versatile but best profiles as a man coverage corner thanks to his physical abilities. Horn’s physicality is the best of the 2021 cornerback class. He relishes contact and loves to mix it up at the catch point. He’ll out-muscle receivers on 50/50 balls and flashed the hands to flip the field in coverage with instincts and soft hands. With excellent length and speed, Horn has the tools to start from Day 1 in a man coverage scheme. And while he does have experience working in the slot and playing in zones, his best fit is Cover 1.
Weaknesses: Horn’s physicality could work against him in the pros as he has to learn to better cover without being so dependent on his hands to re-route receivers. As a run defender, Horn isn’t always consistent at coming up to make contact.
What I Love: Horn’s physical makeup is special, but his attitude is even better. Few college cornerbacks like to play physical football consistently, but Horn puts it on every rep.
