Fixing the Dallas Cowboys and Buffalo Bills
Full 7-round mock drafts for each historic franchise
If you’re like me and grew up watching early-90s football, the Buffalo Bills and Dallas Cowboys are historically great franchises. The Cowboys were the Team of the 90s and the Bills were the team that made four straight Super Bowls but couldn’t get over the hump.
Time, as they say, is a flat circle. The Bills are once again close but can’t get over the hump while the Cowboys are still trying to secure a Super Bowl title after winning its last one in 1995.
Both teams seemed close in 2022, but ultimately ran head-first into the Cincinnati Bengals and San Francisco 49ers. That’s left us wondering: what can these franchises do in the upcoming NFL draft to get closer to a Super Bowl?
Buffalo Bills
Key free agents: S Jordan Poyer, LB Tremaine Edmunds, G Rodger Saffold, RB Devin Singletary
Team Needs: WR, RB, SAF, OL
Round 1, Pick 28 — RB Bijan Robinson, Texas
Running back might seem like a luxury, but the Bills simply could not run the ball when needed over the second half of the season. James Cook looks like he’ll always be limited to a third-down role, whereas Robinson is a powerful runner with awesome vision, contact balance, speed and adds a pass-catching element to the game. Running back isn’t a premium position these days, but the game is shifting to more power runners and Bijan is that. He’s the best running back prospect since Saquon Barkley.
