In yesterdays article, I gave you a list of 10 guys I really like in this draft class.
QB Trey Lance, North Dakota State
WR Dyami Brown, UNC
CB Asante Samuel Jr., Florida State
LB Labril Cox, LSU
LB/S Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Notre Dame
CB Tay Gowan, UCF
TE Pat Freiermuth, Penn State
WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, USC
EDGE Joe Tryon, Washington
OT Penei Sewell, Oregon
A lot of you commented below with a list of your guys, and it was great to see how everyone has certain players they really like.
Let’s keep that conversation rolling today and into the weekend!
If you want to to make it more fun – since I know everyone is dying to tell me how I’m wrong – give me one guy on my list you like and one guy you don’t like. I’ll do the same for your lists.
7 days until the 2021 NFL Draft. Let’s talk, debate, and have fun!
I spoke about Chazz Surratt earlier, too. I love that he played quarterback and that his bother plays receiver. To me, I view that as a huge plus. Football IQ at other positions can only help the position you play.
There's a few examples of past and current players switching positions from quarterback and stating it helped their development at the new position because of the knowledge they already had from playing quarterback. Julian Edelman is an extreme example of this, but it's still a good one. Not a fast speedy guy, yet he knew how to work the field and get open for his quarterback.
I'm a Raiders fan, and would love to see them grab him. I'm just not sure on what his range is. If he's there in the 3rd round, I'd grab him with one of those picks, but don't know that he'll last that long. What round do you anticipate him getting drafted in?
Hard to argue with your list. They are all solid but I would say Cox or Lance are my bottom 2. Cox did prove he belongs jumping to the SEC but outside of the top backers hes in the next tier.
Lance I like but as a Packer fan and getting Love last year the QBs dont interest me haha
My list
1 Farley. If the med checks out hes going to be special. Everything you want in a CB. Please fall
Farley was my top rated cornerback a few months back. After watching more of Surtain II and Horn, he might have been my third ranked cornerback even without the injury concerns. I still believe Farley can become an elite shutdown cornerback in the NFL, but I do think that he has a lower floor than the two guys I mentioned above him. Whichever team drafts him in the 20's is still getting an absolute steal though. I'm interested in seeing how his first year goes!
As far as Rodarius Williams goes, I think he has a lot of things to like about his game. His age might be a concern for teams. Rodarius Williams is nearly a full year older than his brother Greedy Williams, and Greedy is entering his third year in the league.
I don't know this for a a fact, but you do see age talked about a lot within the league. I'm not sure how much it matters for every team, but it's definitely talked about.
With a player that has a day 3 grade most likely, age could make him slide a little more than maybe he should.
I agree on Williams. Eskridge also, they both are older. Williams as a day 3 guy is a nice grab. Hes just solid. Nothing sexy but he is sound and doesnt make mistakes. He could be a nice cb2 in the future.
I'm a UGA fan and I have a huge bias, so I'm going to not pick any Dawgs for my list.
1. Javonte Williams (He's my favorite back in the class and I really hope he ends up in ATL at 35).
2. Kyle Pitts (The only way I'd be really happy with the Falcons not trading back is if we take Pitts at 4).
3. Andre Cisco (I know there's an injury red flag, but the guy is just a turnover machine).
4. Trevon Moehrig (I feel like he's pretty much a guaranteed playmaker at the next level. Hard to imagine him not at least being an above average starter).
5. DeVonta Smith (Pretty much everybody has Chase and Waddle higher, but I just think Smith has the "it" factor. A really special player, and I don't think his weight will matter).
6. Caleb Farley (Another injury red flag guy, but if he stays healthy he's just an absolute stud. I really hope he can stay on the field).
7. Jabril Cox (I can see him being kind of a poor-man's Isaiah Simmons. I hope he ends up with a defense that will use him in fun and creative ways).
8. Derrick Barnes (I just think he's going to be a steal in later rounds. He'll be a starter and an impact player).
9. Marco Wilson (He really wowed on his pro day and I think he'll be another Day 3 steal).
10. Josh Imatorbhebhe (This one is a total wildcard and I don't know if he will ever be an impact player, but for some reason I'm really drawn to him as a prospect. Feel free to roast me for this).
Player I like from your list: Trey Lance
He's my #3 QB after Lawrence and Fields (I'm kind of a Wilson skeptic) and I wouldn't be too upset if the Falcons took him at 4.
Player I don't like from your list: Asante Samuel Jr.
I think I have him as either my 8th or 9th CB on my list. I could be way off base here, but there's just a bunch of other guys I like more.
Jabril Cox could be a huge playmaker for a defense if a team utilizes his strengths!
The reason I am so high on Asante Samuel Jr. is because he is the most competitive cornerback in this class, and I think he plays a lot bigger than his size. He reminds me a lot of Jaire Alexander in Green Bay.
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is a guy I think I might be a lot higher on than most. I have him ahead of Parsons in my rankings. I just feel he can make a big impact in various ways, day one.
1. Creed Humphery (Definitely a first-round player but I see he's not included in every mock)
2. Zaven Collins (Top-20 player)
3. Trey Sermon (Tough runner, capable pass catcher, he can ball I just wish he was a bit faster)
4. Rhamondre Stevenson (Notice the Oklahoma bias yet? But for real, his legs never stop moving, he's going to move constantly the chains with his power and find a spot in the NFL, would love to see him in Tennessee or a similar scheme)
5. Amari Rodgers (Don't overthink it, draft good players even if they're short)
6. Tommy Tremble (He'll make an instant impact on teams that use H-backs like San Fran or Baltimore)
7. Micah Parsons (He's a top 5 player, I don't understand why he's sliding to the teen and twenties)
8. Azeez Ojulari (Has the arm length, size, and speed to succeed at the NFL, he's so young he can only get better barring injuries)
9. Tre Brown (Another Oklahoma kid, had to get him in there. He's a less-physical Janoris Jenkins to me, my friend called him "Rabbit" and I think that's perfect. He can be overly aggressive and needs to be coached up, but he's always around the ball. As a mid-round pick he's high-risk high-reward.)
10. Kenneth Gainwell (He almost lost his brother to a stroke and lost four family members to COVID-19 per The Athletic. Left as a redshirt sophomore who opted out of the 2020 season [assumingly because he realizes not every day is guaranteed and wants to help take care of his family, but that's just an assumption from me]. I just want the best for the guy and hope he has a spot in the NFL for years to come.)
Kenneth Gainwell is definitely a guy I am rooting for! I wrote earlier that if the right team drafts him, he could be a player that fantasy football players love. He has that type of talent with the ball In his hands!
I am very high on him. I think he was often overlooked on a stacked LSU offense. He has the size, length, and speed of an elite wide receiver. His route running isn't talked about enough nor is his ability to make plays with the ball in his hands.
If there is one big bodied receiver from this class to become an All-Pro WR; I'm putting my money on Terrace Marshall Jr.
I've been high on Dyami Brown for a long time now. I think he can be more than just a vertical threat, and his route running is underrated. He can run a full route tree in the NFL.
Tyson Campbell is a guy I spoke about a few weeks back. He's a player that I think can be really good at the cornerback position. He has the length and physical tools teams looks for. His game reminds me a lot of a shiftier Xavier Rhodes.
Gainwell is a great pick! He's a player that fantasy football players might fall in love with if he's in the right offense.
Amari Rodgers is another guy that could be fun to watch on Sundays. The versatility he has if a team uses him to his strengths, a lot of potential there.
Talanoa Hufanga is a guy I really enjoy watching on tape, but I haven't seen him rated higher than a third round pick and some people have him as a 4th or 5th round guy. Seems like a great player as a run support safety that can play in the box on passing downs.
Jaelon Darden is also an interesting guy to me. With how much some teams use jet motion, he seems like a perfect gadget player that could get a handful of touches a game and keep defenses on their toes if used the right way.
Durability would be one concern for Talanoa Hufanga. The two broken collarbones, the shoulder injury all on the same side. The way he plays the position, with such passion and drive that teams love – may also worry a team when evaluating how durable he is as a player.
As a prospect, I like his game a lot. He has a ton of talent and you can tell he loves the game and plays hard each snap, which is something I admire about him.
Jaelon Darden had the second most YAC in college football last season, behind only DeVonta Smith. I agree with your take completely, he can be used in a lot of different ways in the right offense. If he lands with an offensive minded coach or team with a good offensive coordinator, he could be a fun player to watch on Sunday's.
Avery Williams
1. Rondale Moore (homer pick, but Boiler Up)
2. Micah Parsons (Think it'll be interesting how high or how much he slides, have no idea which one it will be)
3. Levi Onwuzurike (just curious to see where the DTs go in this draft)
4. Chaz Surratt (interesting to see how he goes from former QB to full-time LB)
5. Baron Browning (seems to be guys that really like him, but want to see where he gets picked)
6. Jayson Oweh (athlete vs production argument)
7. Mac Jones (so much hate, but think he will be a guy with a long career)
8. Kellen Mond (Is he Dak or is his Conner Cook?)
9. Derrick Barnes (Boiler up again)
10. Quinn Meinerz (rooting for any lineman that lets his belly hang out)
I spoke about Chazz Surratt earlier, too. I love that he played quarterback and that his bother plays receiver. To me, I view that as a huge plus. Football IQ at other positions can only help the position you play.

I would guess round three or four.
Hard to argue with your list. They are all solid but I would say Cox or Lance are my bottom 2. Cox did prove he belongs jumping to the SEC but outside of the top backers hes in the next tier.

7 Rodarius Williams. Why isnt he talked about?

9 Quinn Meinerz

Travis Etienne. I’ve always been a big fan of his.
1. Ja’marr Chase (Rummel Raiders)
2. Ar'Darius Washington (Honey Badger)
3. Terrace Marshal Jr. (Humble Greatness)
4. Milton Williams (Freaky Athlete)
5. Elijah Moore (Will be super productive in any scheme)
6. Trill Williams (All name team, will outplay where he is drafted)
6. Jabril Cox (LBU)
7. Jaycee Horn (Will have a cellphone at every game for pick six)
8. Travis Etienne (Kamara playstyle)
9. JOK (Joker that will be able to play free and if gets NFL schemes down will be a defensive menace)
10. Kelvin Joseph (take away distractions from this kid and he will be a lockdown corner)
1. Javonte Williams (really hoping he goes to the Jets at 34, think he can carry the load)
2. Elijah Molden (I think this guy can be a secondary Swiss Army knife at the next level, hope he goes somewhere with an inventive DC)
3. Zaven Collins (I sought out Tulsa games for this guy. Game breaker.)
4. Creed Humphrey (Steelers should be taking this guy round 1 to replace Pouncey)
5. Deonte Brown (Please, please, please put him next to Becton and just form the biggest wall of pancakes)
6. Brevin Jordan (I actually think he’s TE2 and can become a more athletic version of Jonnu Smith)
7. Jaycee Horn (CB1 in my book)
8. Jevon Holland (will also add great return value)
9. D’Wayne Eskridge (the next great MAC WR in the NFL)
10. Victor Dimukeje (all the attention went to Rumph but I think Dimukeje will be the better pro)
For me, in no particular order
1) Azeez Ojulari, EDGE, Georgia
2) Ben Cleveland, iOL, Georgia
3) Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama
4) Kwity Paye, EDGE, Michigan
5) Ronnie Perkins, EDGE, Oklahoma
6) Kadarius Toney, WR, Florida
7) Teven Jenkins, OL, Oklahoma State
8) Pete Werner, ILB, OSU
9) Patrick Jones, EDGE, Pitt
10) Jonathan Adams, WR, Arkansas State
I'm a UGA fan and I have a huge bias, so I'm going to not pick any Dawgs for my list.

1. Trey Lance (homer pick)
2. Rashod Bateman (UMN grad so gotta support my guy)
3. Teven Jenkins (love this kid’s mean streak)
4. Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (athleticism for days 👀)
5. Benjamin St-Juste (great length and a helluva redemption story)
6. Penei Sewell (his tape is simply fun to watch)
7. Jaycee Horn (I’ll take him over Surtain 10/10 times — love his attitude)
8. Walker Little (interested to see where he lands, great athleticism)
9. Jaelan Phillips (in a weak EDGE class, I think he’s head and shoulders above the next guy)
10. Ar’darius Washington (small dude that packs a big punch — I’ll gladly take him in my Vikings secondary)
Great list! I love Lance, as you probably know.
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is a guy I think I might be a lot higher on than most. I have him ahead of Parsons in my rankings. I just feel he can make a big impact in various ways, day one.
1. Landon Dickerson
2. Trey Lance
3. JOK
4. Najee Harris
5. Kellen Mond
6. Sam Cosmi
7. Elijah Moore (love them Ole Miss receivers)
8. Cam McGrone
9. Asante Samuel Jr
10. Rashawn Slater
Asante Samuel Jr. is one of my favorite players in this entire class. I love his competitive nature and how he plays the position.
I wrote a story on him a few months ago. He's an absolute alpha dog at the position and his mental attitude towards the game its something I admire.
1. Creed Humphery (Definitely a first-round player but I see he's not included in every mock)
2. Zaven Collins (Top-20 player)
3. Trey Sermon (Tough runner, capable pass catcher, he can ball I just wish he was a bit faster)

Quinn Meinerez
Azeez Ojulari

Jamin Davis
Jabrill Cox
Tyson Campbell
Elijah Molden
Terrace Marshall Jr. is my #4 WR in this class.
Yeah I feel the same way about Marshall pretty much but I just have him 5th behind Bateman. I’d love to see Marshall in Baltimore
He is my ideal fit for the Ravens. He could help Lamar Jackson a lot.
Your number 2 guy right there, Dyami Brown...boy that kid can fly. Really think he's going under the radar. As for other guys:
- Teven Jenkins
- Jaelan Phillips
- JOK
- Kellen Mond
- Javian Hawkins
- Tyson Campbell
I've been high on Dyami Brown for a long time now. I think he can be more than just a vertical threat, and his route running is underrated. He can run a full route tree in the NFL.

5. Kenny Gainwell
6. D’Wayne Eskridge
7. Demetric Felton
8. Kadarius Toney
9. Micah Parsons
10. Brevin Jordan
Gainwell is a great pick! He's a player that fantasy football players might fall in love with if he's in the right offense.

Kyle Pitts is my #1 overall. He is a unicorn and someone we may not see again for awhile, if ever.
