Ready for notes from the 2025 NFL combine? We’ve got you. Day 1 of our combine notebook will exist here. Check back throughout the day—or come back tonight—to get our notes on workouts and what we’re hearing around the league.
Wednesday Morning Update (11:00am ET) — Players not working out, rumors and medical news on a top prospect
A list of notable players not working out at the combine is coming together. Here are the names we’ve been able to gather thus far: Abdul Carter (Penn State), Mason Graham (Michigan), Will Johnson (Michigan), Kenneth Grant (Michigan), Tyler Warren (Penn State), Elijah Arroyo (Miami), Colsten Loveland (Michigan), Shedeur Sanders (Colorado), Mykel Williams (Georgia), Jalon Walker (Georgia), Walter Nolen (Ole Miss), Mason Taylor (LSU)
Some of the above are not working out due to medical issues while others are simply choosing to wait for their pro day to do workouts. As is the case every year, it’s disappointing but if you’re a top 15 player (especially a quarterback), we don’t expect to get a complete workout picture these days.
Abdul Carter was found to have a stress reaction in his foot during NFL medical examinations. The news was met with caution here despite online speculation that it could tank his draft stock. By Wednesday morning it was revealed that team doctors said the stress reaction would not require surgery and Carter will be able to workout at his pro day in late March. But for 12 hours the NFL media was buzzing about what this might mean. Ultimately, it meant nothing. A quick lesson in not rushing to react to “news”.
With boots on the ground in Indy (i.e. the bar at Prime) we’ve picked up intel on the likely landing spots for the top quarterbacks. Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders seemingly have guarantees, the way we hear it. (More below the fold)
