Christian Barmore 2021 NFL Draft Scouting Report
Name: Christian Barmore
College: Alabama
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 310 lbs
Overall Rank: DL1
Position Rank: No. 22 overall
Strengths: A redshirt sophomore with excellent raw ability, Barmore broke out in 2021 with 8.5 sacks and a dominant streak to end the season. There is a violence to his game and talent to only get better as he develops and sees more experience. Barmore has excellent strength at the point of attack and the agility to break free from blockers, especially in the pass game. His burst and lower body power in his first steps are impressive. He’s a three-down penetrator and anchor in the run game who will excel in gap roles like a 3-technique where he can navigate the offensive line. As a pass-rusher, Barmore was nearly unstoppable by the end of the season. He’s the best all-around interior defensive lineman in the 2021 class by a healthy margin.
Weaknesses: Barmore is more athlete than football player at this stage of his development and it shows. He’s flashy as hell but he’s also a little wild and undirected at times. Coaches at Alabama and area scouts have reported that he needs pushed hard in practice and is not self-motivated, but he’s also 20 years old and has plenty of time to develop work habits.
What I Love: Barmore is a real deal pass-rusher at 6’4” and 310 pounds. Put him at 3-technique and let him wreck the plans of opposing offensive lines.
