Cade Johnson 2021 NFL Draft Scouting Report
Name: Cade Johnson
Position: WR
College: South Dakota State
Height: 5’11"
Weight: 184 lbs (pro day)
Overall Rank: No. 96 overall
Position Rank: WR15
Strengths: If you like strong hands and good route-running, Johnson is your man. He’s a productive slot receiver prospect who stood out throughout Senior Bowl practices with his body control, catch radius and hands. Johnson has the quickness to separate against NFL coverage and has enough speed to be utilized as a threat on YAC plays and even in the kick return game. His game is a little raw, but Johnson could start Year 1 from the slot.
Weaknesses: You’d like to see a little more urgency in his game, notably in his routes. He can get caught rounding off edges and taking too many steps to get into and through his cut. Johnson could stand to be stronger at the catch point, too, as he often shies away from contact.
What I Love: Johnson impressed me with his practice habits at the Senior Bowl where his toughness and competitiveness were eye-opening. He’s a natural receiver with the quickness to produce from the slot.
