Amari Rodgers 2021 NFL Draft Scouting Report
Name: Amari Rodgers
Position: WR
College: Clemson
Height: 5’9 1/2"
Weight: 212 lbs (pro day)
Overall Rank: No. 84 overall
Position Rank: WR13
Strengths: Rodgers is short, not small. He has a thick, squatty frame with excellent power in his lower body that allows him to dial up burst, quick cuts, and good long speed. Rodgers’ foot speed is fantastic and allows him to shake defenders in space and set up his routes. A tough-as-nails competitor, Rodgers is loved by the Clemson coaching staff and players. He can run away from defenders both with-and-without the ball. He also has the power to break tackles and slip defenders.
Weaknesses: Long defenders will give Rodgers problems if he’s not given a cushion off the line of scrimmage. Inconsistent hands are an issue as he too often got ahead of himself trying to turn up field or make people miss before he secured the ball. An ACL injury in 2019 means limited reps for Rodgers in college.
What I Love: Rodgers fits what the NFL wants as a slot receiver and return man. But he’s powerful enough to beat up cornerbacks when lined up outside.
