Aaron Robinson 2021 NFL Draft Scouting Report
Name: Aaron Robinson
Position: Cornerback
College: UCF
Height: 5’11 1/2”
Weight: 186 lbs
Overall Rank: No. 56 overall
Position Rank: CB6
Strengths: A former top recruit and Alabama signee, Robinson was one of the best cornerbacks in the nation over the last two seasons. He has long arms and good instincts matched with nice quickness and an ability to play loose and fast in space. He has experience playing both inside and outside corner positions and has the feet to hang at either spot in the pros. Robinson doesn’t fear contact and makes plenty of plays in the run game while also being physical enough in coverage to handle underneath routes. His short-area quickness and balance are very impressive. He’s at ease through transitions and doesn’t get uncomfortable when asked to change directions. While possibly viewed by teams as a slot cornerback, Robinson has the tools to be a starter in an NFL defense early on.
Weaknesses: Deep speed is the first question mark with Robinson and it could be the single trait that determines if teams view him as a slot or outside cornerback. Due to his lack of speed, Robinson has a tendency to jump routes and overreact to receivers. This can cause him to bite and lose positioning, especially in man coverage. Learning to trust his instincts and be more patient could help a ton. A zone scheme may ultimately be the best home for Robinson as it would help cover up his lack of speed but highlight his short-area quickness and tools.
What I Love: Robinson’s willingness to compete is exceptional. He’s a fighter through coverage and worked hard to become a better tackler. That showed in 2020 as he was one of the best we graded in that area at cornerback.
