2026 NFL Draft Team Needs: Final Edition
The NFL offseason is a beautiful kind of chaos: a three-month stretch where hope is cheap, cap space is finite, and every general manager believes his franchise is exactly two or three moves away from glory.
As the 2025 season fades in the rearview and the 2026 campaign begins to take shape, all 32 teams are staring at the same whiteboard: holes to fill, contracts to restructure, and windows that are either opening or slamming shut. Some clubs are one star away from a Super Bowl run. Others are rebuilding from the foundation up.
In the guide that follows, we break down the single biggest need—and the most realistic path to addressing it—for every franchise heading into this critical spring. From the quarterback-needy contenders to the depth-starved also-rans, here’s where each team stands and what it must do before the 2026 season kicks off.
Arizona Cardinals — QB, OT, EDGE, LB, DL
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 3, 34, 65, 104, 143, 183, 217
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6, Round 7
The Cardinals’ need at quarterback is unlikely to be filled this year unless the team reaches for Alabama’s Ty Simpson. Addressing the right tackle spot in Round 1 with Miami’s Francis Mauigoa makes more sense.
Atlanta Falcons — EDGE, DL, WR, CB, LB
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 48, 79, 122, 215, 231
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6, Round 7
Atlanta traded a 2026 first-rounder to draft James Pearce Jr., a player who faces serious off-field consequences this offseason. With only five selections this year, the Falcons’ draft should heavily lean on defensive selections after the team added Tua Tagovailoa to compete with Michael Penix at quarterback.
Baltimore Ravens — WR, EDGE, DL, CB, OL
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 14, 45, 80, 115, 154, 162, 173, 174, 211, 250, 253
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6
The Ravens could look to add another playmaking wide receiver early in the draft or find a replacement for Mark Andrews but this will always be a team that values defense early in the draft and could load up on edge-rushers if one like Rueben Bain Jr. falls to them.
Buffalo Bills — EDGE, DL, DB, OL, LB
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 26, 91, 126, 165, 168, 220
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 6, Round 6
The Bills don’t have a second-round pick this year after trading for D.J. Moore, but there are needs throughout the defense that need addressed. Linebacker CJ Allen (Georgia) would be a very fitting addition.
Carolina Panthers — WR, C, DL, CB, S
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 19, 51, 83, 119, 158, 159, 200
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 7, Round 7
With a decision coming soon on quarterback Bryce Young’s second contract, the Panthers could load up on more weapons for him for a second-straight year or address a defensive line that needs a big time boost.
Chicago Bears — S, WR, DL, EDGE, OL
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 25, 57, 60, 89, 129, 239, 241
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 7, Round 7
The Bears have two second-round picks but take a long break between Rounds 4 and 7; this is a draft where Ryan Poles can finish the roster build if they can hit on a safety and an impact defensive lineman.
Cincinnati Bengals — EDGE, DB, LB, OL, DL
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 10, 41, 72, 110, 189, 199, 221, 226
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6, Round 7
The Bengals are loaded with late-round picks but have to start hitting on early picks on the defensive side of the ball after a string of misses up-front. At No. 10 overall, it’s best defensive player available.
Cleveland Browns — QB, LT, WR, EDGE, NB
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 6, 24, 39, 70, 107, 146, 149, 206, 248
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 5, Round 7, Round 7
With the third-most draft capital of any team this year, the Browns are loaded to address core needs but the biggest question mark—quarterback—is unlikely to be answered this offseason.
Dallas Cowboys — EDGE, CB, DL, S, LB
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 12, 20, 92, 112, 152, 177, 180, 218
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6, Round 7
There should be a new look secondary after the 2026 draft in Dallas, and it may include using both first-rounders on the back-end of the defense. Cornerback at No. 12 and safety or linebacker at No. 20 feels like the play.
Denver Broncos — TE, LB, S, DL, EDGE
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 62, 108, 111, 170, 246, 256, 257
2027 Draft Picks: Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6, Round 7
Without a first-or-third-round pick this year—and no first-rounder next year—the Broncos can only do so much high-end damage addressing team needs; but there addition of a tight end like Eli Stowers in Round 2 and hitting the defensive line with multiple Day 3 picks is smart.
Detroit Lions — EDGE, S, OT, LB, LB
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 17, 50, 118, 128, 157, 181, 205, 213, 222
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 5, Round 5, Round 6, Round 6, Round 7
Detroit still needs an edge opposite Aidan Hutchinson, and now there’s a need at offensive tackle depending on where you want to play Penei Sewell in the future. With no third-round pick the Lions should hit on the trenches early.
Green Bay Packers — CB, EDGE, RB, OL, DL
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 52, 84, 120, 160, 201, 236, 255
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 7
With the least draft capital of any team in the 2026 draft following the Micah Parsons’ trade, the Packers will wait until pick No. 52 to try and address holes in the secondary and on the offensive line.
Houston Texans — DT, LB, EDGE, RB, TE
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 28, 38, 59, 69, 106, 141, 167, 243
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6, Round 7, Round 7
The Texans are blessed with four picks in the top 100 and no clear-cut, immediate needs. This is a depth and strength-building draft for them with picks in the defensive front seven an early priority.
Indianapolis Colts — EDGE, WR, RT, LB, S
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 47, 78, 113, 156, 214, 249, 254
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6, Round 7, Round 7
The Colts return a roster that was red hot before Daniel Jones was injured; without a Round 1 pick they’ll use two picks on Day 2 to address depth at receiver and look for another edge-rusher.
Jacksonville Jaguars — EDGE, LB, S, OL, DL
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 56, 81, 88, 100, 124, 164, 166, 203, 233, 240, 245
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6, Round 7
The Jags don’t have a Round 1 pick after moving up for Travis Hunter last year, but are loaded with three picks in the third round with which to address needs on a playoff roster. It’s likely to be a heavy year for defensive draft picks.
Kansas City Chiefs — EDGE, DT, WR, TE, CB
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 9, 29, 40, 74, 109, 148, 168, 176, 210
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6, Round 6
This is the most important draft of the Mahomes/Veach era in Kansas City with an unexpected top 10 draft pick and the sixth-most capital of any team. There are needs at important positions after underwhelming results from recent first-round picks.
Los Angeles Chargers — EDGE, DL, WR, DB, LB
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 22, 55, 86, 123, 204
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 6, Round 7
With only five picks in this draft, the Chargers did a lot of work on team needs in free agency. Still, youth is needed on the edges of the offensive and defensive formations.
Los Angeles Rams — LB, WR, EDGE, QB, OL
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 13, 61, 93, 207, 232, 251, 252
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6
The Rams have three picks in the first three rounds then take a break until Round 6. F Them Picks, indeed. This draft should be about finding future starters at wide receiver and maybe quarterback.
Las Vegas Raiders — QB, WR, CB, DL, S
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 1, 36, 67, 102, 117, 134, 175, 182, 185, 208, 219
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6, Round 7
It’s Mendoza time in Las Vegas, and with the second-most draft capital of any team this draft it’s important the picks made to support him on both sides of the ball hit. This was the NFL’s worst roster last year with big improvements needed across the board.
Miami Dolphins — WR, EDGE, CB, S, DT
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 11, 30, 43, 75, 87, 90, 94, 130, 151, 227, 238
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 5, Round 6, Round 7
With a league-leading seven picks in the top 100, the Dolphins should have a goal of seven new starters or high-end contributors coming out of this draft. Attacking receiver, edge-rusher and the secondary are the smartest plays to flip the roster in a hurry.
Minnesota Vikings — S, CB, WR, DL, RB
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 18, 49, 82, 97, 163, 196, 234, 235, 244
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 4, Round 6, Round 7, Round 7
Minnesota will try Kyler Murray at quarterback with Carson Wentz and J.J. McCarthy also competing for reps, but no matter who is under center the new front office has to start hitting on picks after the struggles of the last regime to hit on picks outside (and inside) of Round 1.
New England Patriots — EDGE, RT, TE, WR, DL
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 31, 63, 95, 125, 131, 171, 191, 198, 202, 212, 247
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6
Coming off a Super Bowl berth, the Patriots need to plug holes on offense to keep supporting Drake Maye while also reloading with more speed on defense. With 11 total selections, it’s possible to do that in this draft.
New Orleans Saints — WR, EDGE, CB, OL, DL
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 8, 42, 73, 132, 136, 150, 172, 190
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6
After a franchise-changing 2025 draft, the Saints are back with the 10th most draft capital of any team to keep building. Wide receiver, edge-rusher and cornerback rank as clear-cut needs with top 100 value.
New York Giants — WR, OG, DL, CB, LB
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 5, 37, 105, 145, 186, 192, 193
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6
With a nasty defense being assembled, the Giants are likely to focus on offense throughout this draft but there’s still the possibility of an impact defender at No. 5 overall if one slips through the cracks. But don’t rule out running back Jeremiyah Love here.
New York Jets — QB, OG, CB, WR, EDGE
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 2, 16, 33, 44, 103, 140, 179, 228, 242
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 1, Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6, Round 7
The Jets have the most draft capital of any team this year and three first-rounders next year; the key is actually hitting on those picks after trading away two blue chip defenders the team had drafted and developed.
Philadelphia Eagles — EDGE, TE, WR, S, QB
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 23, 54, 68, 98, 114, 137, 153, 178, 197
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6, Round 7
We could see AJ Brown traded but likely not until after June 1, but if the Eagles go receiver early in this draft we’ll expect that move sooner than later. Addressing future needs at tight end, right tackle and maybe even quarterback are expected in this class.
Pittsburgh Steelers — QB, WR, TE, LB, LT
2026 Draft Picks: Nos.
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6, Round 7
The Steelers have big needs at key positions, making this an incredibly important draft for GM Omar Khan and new head coach Mike McCarthy. This is an aging roster with no real young stars to build around currently.
Seattle Seahawks — EDGE, WR, RB, OC, DT
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 32, 64, 96, 188
2027 Draft Picks: Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 4, Round 5, Round 7
Seattle won a Super Bowl but is light on draft picks in the next two classes. John Schneider is one of the best drafting GMs in the game but he’ll need to go on a run to keep this team atop the league with age-related attrition coming at wide receiver, edge-rusher and defensive tackle.
San Francisco 49ers — EDGE OT, C, CB, WR
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 27, 58, 127, 133, 138, 139
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 5, Round 6, Round 6, Round 7
The 49ers are lacking in Round 3 and late-round picks in this class, making it important for a front office that has a checkered hit rate in Round 1 and 2 to get it right early. Thinking about the future at left tackle could come into play in Round 1.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers — EDGE, LB, CB, DL, WR
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 15, 46, 77, 116, 155, 195, 229
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6, Round 7
It’s a reload year for Tampa with needs on the defense taking priority—but we thought that last year and the team drafted a receiver in Round 1. Anything is in play for a team with some big salaries coming due for bigger paydays.
Tennessee Titans — WR, RG, RB, S, LB
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 4, 35, 66, 101, 142, 144, 184, 194, 225
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6, Round 7
A very young team has a chance to upgrade and load up at core spots after a very active free agency period. There aren’t many “must-fill” roster spots thanks to the presence of young and new starters.
Washington Commanders — EDGE, WR, CB, RB, OL
2026 Draft Picks: Nos. 7, 71, 147, 187, 209, 223
2027 Draft Picks: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6, Round 7
The Commanders are in a great spot for a best player available pick in Round 1; and with no pick in Round 2 it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them target an edge-rusher early and address wide receiver or cornerback later.
