Sure, the NFL season is only three weeks old at this point, but we’re already seeing trends that must be discussed. Things like:
Will the Bears give up on Justin Fields?
Will the Broncos replace Russell Wilson?
Can the Cardinals keep winning?
Where does QB2 land?
Who is QB3?
All those fascinating questions can be discussed and debated, but until you put pen to paper and map out the draft picks, it’s much harder to get any real feel for where players will go. It’s easy to say, “Drake Maye is a top two pick” until you look at the draft order and realize that might not be the case. The same goes for any number of players currently being discussed on draft media outlets and social media accounts.
So, let’s just figure it out with a fresh 2024 mock draft.
1. Bears—QB Caleb Williams, USC
I’m not completely out on Justin Fields yet, but if the Bears earn the No. 1 overall pick there is no doubt in my mind they would move Fields and draft Caleb Williams. The same can be said for almost every team in the league. Williams is that good of a prospect. And for teams that miss out on the top end of this quarterback draft, Fields is an attractive starting-level quarterback for the right (i.e. running) scheme.
2. Broncos—WR Marvin Harrison Jr., Ohio State
Would the Broncos move on from Russell Wilson in this scenario? Would they trade out and allow a quarterback-needy team to move up for Drake Maye? I don’t think so. Not with a truly special talent like Harrison, Jr. available. The pass rush in Denver needs attention but you can’t say no to a rare breed like this.
