Before the wild west that is NFL free agency begins in earnest on Monday afternoon, let’s take one final look at how the first round could shake out on April 25th. Included in this mock draft are our predictions as to what could happen in the free agent and draft market for quarterbacks.
Where does Russell Wilson land and how does that shake up the market? What about Kirk Cousins to Atlanta? Or does Baker Mayfield jet for New England with one more shot at a bank-breaking contract?
All these moves by the quarterbacks will have massive ripple effects on the draft. And maybe Cousins goes back to Minnesota and Mayfield stays in Tampa…but we know things get crazy in the League when money changes hands. So let’s have some fun with one last look at the draft before free agent dollars get spent.
1. Chicago Bears — QB Caleb Williams, USC
Despite some very, very determined fans in Chicago, this is happening. I’m tired of writing it. You’re tired of reading it. Let’s just all accept the Bears will draft Caleb Williams and are trying to move Justin Fields. We good? We good.
2. Washington Commanders — QB Jayden Daniels, LSU
I’m starting to feel much more confident about this selection. Let’s call it 90 percent right now. Daniels is the perfect non-Caleb Williams fit for offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury and would open the offense up to new levels.
3. New England Patriots — WR Marvin Harrison, Jr.
*Trade Candidate*
The Patriots are rumored to be trying to flip this pick for a king’s ransom of current and future draft capital. I continue to believe they are not in love with Drake Maye, based on conversations around the league. If the Patriots can sign a veteran free agent quarterback, the conversation becomes draft the generational talent at wide receiver or flip the pick for a boat load of picks.
