2023 NFL Draft: Stacking the Quarterbacks
Every draft class basically lives and dies based on the strength of the quarterbacks. Think back to 2021 when you couldn’t turn on ESPN or NFL Network without seeing a debate about the five quarterbacks who would be selected in the first round. And then we saw the great quarterback drought of 2022 with one first-rounder and only two quarterbacks drafted in the top 100 overall—it was a draft year that saw little fanfare or publicity despite some really good pass-rushers, receivers and offensive linemen.
Quarterbacks are like home runs—chicks dig them and they sell tickets. They also win championships.
With a very good crop of quarterbacks available in 2023, let’s break them down.
1. Bryce Young, Alabama
The top quarterback in the 2023 class, if Young were bigger than his 6’0” and 195 pound frame we’d be talking about a truly special prospect. Young, if he were 6’2”, is a lot closer to Joe Burrow than people realize. His poise, accuracy, field vision and ability to escape muddy pockets makes him perfect for today’s NFL. And despite his size, he’s got an arm that can stretch the field.
