In the spirit of team needs over value, this mock draft projects the entire first round. From quarterback-hungry teams like the Giants and Titans to defensive powerhouses looking to reload, here’s how the 2025 draft could unfold, based on the latest team needs, prospect buzz, and draft order as of April 13, 2025.

1. Tennessee Titans

Cam Ward, QB, Miami

The Titans, with the No. 1 pick, address their long-term quarterback needs by selecting Cam Ward. Ward's strong arm, mobility, and experience make him a franchise-caliber prospect. He has the tools to thrive in Tennessee's offense and could be the face of the franchise for years to come.

2. Cleveland Browns

Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Colorado

The Browns opt for versatility with Travis Hunter, who can contribute on both offense and defense. His ability to play wide receiver and cornerback adds depth and flexibility to Cleveland's roster. Hunter's athleticism and football IQ make him a unique talent who can elevate the team's ceiling.

3. New York Giants

Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado

1. Tennessee Titans — Abdul Carter, DE, Penn State

There will be plenty of buzz about the Titans sticking here and picking a quarterback and about the Titans trading down. I still think the move is to take the best player in the class here.

2. Cleveland Browns — Cam Ward, QB, Miami

A team might try to jump Cleveland for Ward, as it does sound like he’s the consensus QB1 in this class. Expect Cleveland to work a deal with Tennessee if a trade happens at No. 1.

3. New York Giants — Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado

We struggled to find a team that’s all-in on Sanders at the combine, but the Giants are all-in on drafting a quarterback at this time after missing out on Matthew Stafford.

Fresh off a week on the road scouting the East-West Shrine Bowl and Reese’s Senior Bowl, here’s our take on the first 32 picks of the 2025 NFL draft.

We’ve talked to scouts about Shedeur Sanders, Cam Ward, Travis Hunter’s best position and Ashton Jeanty’s likelihood of going in the top 10. Based on those conversations, free agency projections and team needs, here’s how we see the first round playing out.

1. Tennessee Titans — Abdul Carter, DE, Penn State

I firmly believe the Tennessee Titans would love to trade this pick, which is where the “we won’t pass on a generational talent” talk comes from. If you’re the Titans, you could move back to pick No. 2 or No. 3 and still get Abdul Carter while collecting much-needed draft capital. Remember, Tennessee traded a third-round pick to Kansas City for L’Jarius Sneed.

2. Cleveland Browns — Cam Ward, QB, Miami

The Browns are in an unwinnable situation with Deshaun Watson. The best thing to do is cut bait and move on sooner rather than later. Ward is ready to play immediately after a great run at Incarnate Ward, Washington State and The U.

3. New York Giants — Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado

Word is the Giants have spent a ton of time with Sanders in the pre-draft process so far and we still have almost three months to go. Does he fit Brian Daboll’s offense on paper? Not really, but Daboll needs a quarterback who can perform well enough in Year 1 to save his job.

Would we do this? No, but the Titans probably will give in to the pressure to draft a quarterback with the first overall pick.

2. Cleveland Browns — Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado'

See above. This would not be our pick—in fact we wouldn’t draft either of the top quarterbacks in this class with a top two pick—but the Browns have a disaster situation with Deshaun Watson and need a quarterback to sell tickets.

3. New York Giants — Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Colorado

Hunter could start at cornerback and still get snaps—maybe 10 per game—on offense where he and Malik Nabers would make one hell of a duo. Trust us—the Round 2 quarterbacks in this class are just as good as the two drafted above this.

It’s a well-known rule that for a player to be eligible for the NFL draft, they must be three years removed from high school graduation. Players like Adrian Peterson and Myles Garrett were talented enough that analysts at the time suggested they could have gone to the NFL after one year of college football. And Maurice Clarett famously tried suing for that right before it ultimately failed.

But what if every player in college football was eligible for the 2025 NFL draft? Would you take a flier on the potential of Arch Manning over the proven ability of Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders? What about Ohio State freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith—does he go ahead of Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter?

This is about to be fun. And wild. Let’s get into it.

1. New England Patriots — Jeremiah Smith, WR, Ohio State (2027 class)

Smith is the best wide receiver in college football and he’s just a true freshman. There’s shades of Julio Jones here with his physical dominance and his penchant for big plays. His matchup against a talented Texas secondary in the Cotton Bowl will be another opportunity to showcase the elite, rare ability he’s already shown. Smith, barring injury, will go down as one of the best receivers we’ve scouted.

2. Tennessee Titans — Arch Manning, QB, Texas (2027 class)

Manning is already college football royalty despite the fact he’s started two games in relief of Quinn Ewers when the veteran was injured. In that time, Manning wowed with nine touchdowns to just two interceptions. The 6-foot-4, 225 pound freshman is built like Josh Allen with powerful legs, really good mobility and a big arm. It helps that he’s from the first family of football, too. The Titans would be betting on the upside of Manning here, but that feels like playing with house money.

1.1 Las Vegas Raiders — Cam Ward, QB, Miami (FL)

The debate between Ward and Shedeur Sanders will rage all winter and spring. For now, we think Ward’s playmaking ability puts him over Sanders.

1.2 New York Giants — Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado

Sanders is no consolation prize. He’s accurate, tough, and smart from the pocket with four years worth of starting experience.

1.3 New England Patriots — Kelvin Banks Jr, T, Texas

The Patriots could consider athlete Travis Hunter here but have to protect Drake Maye. Wide receivers can come in free agency or Round 2.

1.4 Jacksonville Jaguars — Travis Hunter ATH, Colorado

Hunter is seen as a cornerback by most scouts but will get to pick his side of the ball. In Jacksonville he could play both ways given the team’s needs at wide out and cornerback.

1.5 Carolina Panthers — Abdul Carter, DE, Penn State

Bryce Young has locked down the quarterback job for another year. The pass rush here needs immediate help, and Carter is a freak off the edge.

Mock drafts are a lot of fun. They’re fun to write. They’re fun to read. And we know it’s what you want. So we’re doing something new today with a two-round mock draft.

But that’s not all that’s different. For this mock draft we used the Pro Football Focus mock draft simulator. It’s a great tool, and a ton of fun to play around with. But here’s the catch on this mock draft: We selected odd numbered teams to control and allowed the computer to control even numbered teams. This builds in some realism, factors in a Big Board other than our own rankings, and gives a fresh take on team needs.

We set the Advanced Settings to care equally about positional value, equally for team needs, and turned randomness down low.

Well, we didn’t see that one coming. Milroe has elite traits but needs to develop better throwing mechanics and timing. His anticipation as a thrower is very basic and is more reactive as a playmaker.

1.03 New York Giants (Draft Scout)

Team Needs: QB, OT, CB, WR, OG

BPA: CB Will Johnson (Michigan), DE Abdul Carter (Penn State), DT Mason Graham (Michigan)

Selection: Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado

The Giants have to start over at quarterback and Sanders is the best in the class. He needs to work on speeding up his process in the pocket, but his accuracy and arm talent are very good.

1.1 Jacksonville Jaguars — Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Colorado

The best player in the class goes first overall. We’re not projecting trades, or we’d have someone coming up for one of the two quarterbacks with Round 1 grades in this class.

1.2 New York Giants — Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado

In the real draft, the Giants are expected to make a play up the board for Sanders if needed. However, as we laid out last week, this franchise has six starts from Black quarterbacks in the last 60 years. Sanders isn’t exactly polished around the edges, either. But he sure can spin the football.

1.3 Las Vegas Raiders — Cam Ward, QB, Miami

Ward isn’t a consolation prize to teams missing out on Sanders; he’s a legit playmaking quarterback in his own right. The Raiders need a spart at the position and Ward can deliver that with his speed, arm strength, and whip-fast delivery.

Let’s have fun with a quickie mock draft. Here’s the latest on what we’re hearing, seeing and thinking around the first round.

This is the most up to date draft order and including players we have heard and think will enter the 2025 draft. A reminder that players like Jalen Milroe (Alabama), Garrett Nussmeier (LSU) and even Carson Beck (Georgia) or Quinn Ewers (Texas) could return to college for the 2025 season. It may be unlikely for Beck and Ewers, but it is possible.

We’ll get into that all below, though.

1. Jacksonville Jaguars — Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Colorado

A trade might be the most likely outcome for the Jaguars, but we’re not projecting those just yet. Hunter would give Trevor Lawrence—a previous No. 1 overall pick—a legitimate weapon at receiver. Hunter could also play a package or two on defense and would be an absolute unit as a punt returner.

2. New York Giants — Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado

I actually think Milroe or Cam Ward (Miami) are a better scheme fit for Brian Daboll, but the Giants have to take the best quarterback and get someone ready to play right away. That’s neither Milroe nor Ward. Sanders’ accuracy and instincts are pro-ready. And this is a stable enough situation that the Sanders family won’t get involved and shut down the team’s selection.

3. Tennessee Titans — Abdul Carter, DE, Penn State

The Titans are more likely to add a veteran quarterback—someone like Sam Darnold—than to draft another young passer. This regime needs to win, and a rookie quarterback likely isn’t helping there. Pairing Abdul Carter with Harold Landry gives the defense an elite strength to build around.

Two NFL teams have already fired head coaches—the Jets and Saints both moving on from their top dogs. Wildly enough, seven teams are tied at the top of the draft order at 2-7; with the Dolphins and Titans right there at 2-6.

It’s been a season of poor play across the league as teams are marred by injuries, poor quarterback play, and poor coaching.

And that’s why we’re selling hope in the form of the 2025 NFL draft. With the draft order coming into focus and the college game hitting the final month of regular season play, it’s time for an updated mock draft. And this time we’re expanding it to the first TWO rounds.

Round One

1. New England Patriots — WR Travis Hunter, Colorado

The Patriots badly need help all over the roster. Instead of going after the top tackle in the class, the front office will attack the position in free agency and instead draft the best all-around player in college football.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars — OT Kelvin Banks Jr., Texas

The Jags already traded left tackle Cam Robinson and will give Walker Little a chance to become the every day left tackle. If that doesn’t work, Banks is waiting in the wings. His struggles against Georgia were more on poor play-calling and a quarterback holding the ball. He’s an NFL caliber starter.

3. New Orleans Saints — QB Cam Ward, Miami (FL)

It’s a matter of time before the roster gets blown up like the coaching staff. Derek Carr isn’t getting it done and is on the verge of losing the locker room. Cam Ward’s dynamic ability inside and outside the pocket make him QB1.

4. Carolina Panthers — WR Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona

Bryce Young has shown enough in his comeback from benching to think he can maybe get this thing turned around. Management shouldn’t give up on him just yet. Instead he gets a legit jump ball receiver that’ll become his safety valve.

5. Cleveland Browns — CB Will Johnson, Michigan

We’d draft a quarterback, but there’s zero chance Deion Sanders lets his son Shedeur be drafted by the Cleveland Browns. The team will go the veteran route to compete with Deshaun Watson and drafts a plug-and-play shutdown cornerback.

With the season giving us new insights into what teams need and which players will be available, we’re taking a fresh look at the first round of the 2025 NFL draft.

This is a fun exercise to see where team needs align with player values. Where do Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter stack up when comparing team needs, positional value and their individual ranks as players?

Let’s find out.

1. New England Patriots — Kelvin Banks, OT, Texas

Banks is not our No. 1 overall player, and in fact this would likely lead to a trade down the board as a quarterback-needy team tried to position itself for Shedeur Sanders. But in this case, the Patriots get a plug-and-play left tackle to build around upfront. This is the clear-cut biggest need on the roster. Banks struggled against Georgia, but our view was that was more of an issue with the quarterback holding the ball and not solely on Banks’ ability.

2. Carolina Panthers — Cam Ward, QB, Miami

Bryce Young will be traded in the offseason for pennies on the dollars paid to acquire him. That will open the door for another top of the draft quarterback. Ward has developed into a quality passer with added running ability from the backfield. He would no doubt spark this offense.

3. Cleveland Browns — Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado

The Browns are financially stuck with Deshaun Watson for now, but that doesn’t mean the team can’t get ready for his replacement, especially following his Achilles’ injury. Sanders might not want to be in Cleveland—where the quarterback position has been one disaster after another—but the Browns would be lucky to him his talent.

1. Jacksonville Jaguars — WR Travis Hunter, Colorado

You can argue that a non-quarterback, non-trench player hasn’t been drafted first overall since 1995. I would counter with the Jaguars aren’t going to draft a quarterback, have invested in offensive tackle, and are good at defensive end. Also, Hunter is the clear-cut best football player in the nation. The Jaguars must surround Trevor Lawrence with difference makers who can elevate his game. Hunter can do that as a primary receiver, sometimes cover man, and elite returner.

2. Tennessee Titans — QB Shedeur Sanders, Colorado

It remains to be seen if Coach Prime would allow Sanders to be drafted by Tennessee (the same goes for Hunter in Jacksonville) given previous comments, but this is a big need for a rebuilding team. Sanders’ accuracy, touch, toughness and playmaking prowess give him QB1 status for me in this draft.

3. Cincinnati Bengals — OT Kelvin Banks, Texas

Remember the meme of Joe Burrow throwing to “anyone” with Penei Sewell protecting him vs. Burrow throwing to Ja’Marr Chase with “anyone” protecting him? Yeah, that’s a reality. The Bengals went for a Greatest Show on Turf build and Burrow has had the shit kicked out of him for it. Banks is a true blue left tackle with elite movement and agility to become the long-term blindside protector with 2024 first-rounder Amarius Mims at right tackle.

The first week of the NFL season is behind us after what felt like seven days of games. And with it we have our first complete standings for the NFL season…which for us draft nerds means we have a very rough framework for the draft order.

That sounds like a great time to do a mock draft.

Do the Panthers punt on Bryce Young? How about the Titans and Will Levis? Should the Jets find the replacement to Aaron Rodgers?

Using win/loss records from Week 1 and point differential as the tie-breakers, here’s a look at how the 2025 first round would shake out if the draft were tomorrow.

1. Carolina Panthers (0-1, -37) — QB Quinn Ewers, Texas

It’s becoming painfully obvious that the Bryce Young experiment is not working in Carolina. A change of scenery is what’s best for all involved. Enter Ewers. The Texas senior is just 21 years old but has matured on the scene during his time under Steve Sarkisian. Ewers has arm talent, mobility, and he’s seeing the field and processing much better than earlier in his career. The potential is sky-high.

2. New York Giants (0-1, -22) — QB Carson Beck, Georgia

Beck just seems like a John Mara kind of quarterback. He’s a pocket passer with some mobility, but it’s command of the field and super-quick processing the Giants will love. Beck rarely makes mistakes in terms of placement or reads, and while he might be a little boring in terms of physical traits, he’s just really good.

3. Washington Commanders (0-1, -17) — OT Kelvin Banks Jr, Texas

The Commanders got a good Week 1 performance from rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels and the team has talent at wide receiver and on defense. Where help is needed—badly—is at left tackle. Banks has superb movement ability and power at the point of attack.

The NFL Hall of Fame game is upon us, and that means the season is finally here. Thank goodness.

It also means we can start pumping out mock drafts that are rooted in real analysis and evaluation versus the summer mocks based purely on projection. Which teams have needs we didn’t see coming? Which players in the NFL regress? And most importantly, which college players rise to the occasion?

To get there, we need a baseline of analysis. And that’s what this mock draft is.

The draft order is based 100 percent on my personal projections for the season. There are no trades in this mock draft in order to best represent player values and team needs.

1. Carolina Panthers — James Pearce, Defensive End, Tennessee

The Panthers are set at quarterback, have a few young wide receivers, and have invested in the offensive tackle position. That leaves defensive line as the lone premium position to draft early in the first round. It just so happens that Pearce is worthy of the top spot. He had 9.5 sacks last year and has elite first-step quickness.

2. New England Patriots — Will Campbell, Left Tackle, LSU

New England was criticized pre-draft for not setting the table through free agency before selecting Drake Maye at No. 3 overall. They can correct that here with Campbell as the team’s blindside protector. Campbell has the toughness, movement and strength to be a top five pick. He’s been battle-tested in the SEC.

3. Denver Broncos — Kelvin Banks Jr., Left Tackle, Texas

We can’t forget that left tackle Garret Bolles is on a contract year and the Broncos were widely rumored to be investigating blindside protectors in Round 1 of a loaded draft class. The team instead went for quarterback Bo Nix, which means they could tap back into the offensive line spot in 2025. Banks is an upside player with “wow” factor athletic ability and no sacks allowed in two seasons.

1. Carolina Panthers - Harold Perkins, EDGE, LSU

The Panthers have their franchise QB in Bryce Young, a LT in Ekownu and a solid receiver room. They need some help on defense and Harold Perkins is already drawing comparisons to Micah Parsons. With the departure of Brian Burns this offseason the Panthers also need a marquee pass rusher. Perkins may be a little undersized but the potential jumps off the tape and he has never been used to meet his full potential.

You want to know who is going where…and honestly we do too. The fun of a mock draft is seeing how the board falls and what surprising moves teams will make. And there will be surprises this year.

1. Chicago Bears — QB Caleb Williams, USC

2. Washington Commanders — QB Jayden Daniels, LSU

3. New England Patriots — QB Drake Maye, North Carolina

4. Arizona Cardinals — WR Marvin Harrison Jr., Ohio State

The top four picks feel written in stone at this point. Yes, there’s buzz about New England liking J.J. McCarthy, but that doesn’t mean they like him enough to draft him over the tools of Maye. So, first four picks feel good. After that? Chaos.

1. Bears - Caleb Williams, QB, USC
Duh. Draft Caleb Williams. Williams has the potential to turn this franchise around for generations.

2. Commanders - Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU
You have to take a chance on QBs. I’m not the biggest fan of this QB class (I think there is a lot of bust potential here) but if you’re drafting this high you have to take a chance. Hell, a lot of people laughed when the Chiefs “reached” for Patrick Mahomes and when the Bills traded up for Josh Allen. You have to risk it for the biscuit in this league - and the quarterback position is the biscuit of this situation.

3. Patriots - Drake Maye, QB, North Carolina
The Pats are in a similar boat as the Commanders. They desperately need a franchise QB and they need to take a chance on Maye. At one point Maye was considered QB1 by many scouts. Even though his stock has cooled, he could be the quarterback to finally make New England forget about Tom Brady - Just kidding. That will never happen. But Maye could at least give the fanbase and team a much needed spark.

4. Vikings *TRADE* - J.J. McCarthy, QB, Michigan
The Vikings let Kirk Cousins get away in free agency and like the other top four teams, they need a new QB. McCarthy didn’t showcase his skills at Michigan in their run heavy offense but the traits are there and McCarthy could be the next great hope to lead the Vikings to the playoffs - and maybe even run the North like some thought they would after Aaron Rodgers went to the Jets.

5. Chargers - Marvin Harrison Jr, WR, Ohio State
I have to get Justin Herbert some help. My head coach might try to tell me no on Marvin Harrison Jr. but I don’t care. Harrison Jr. can be the future No. 1 WR Herbert and the Chargers need. Many teams have tried to load up on defense to beat the Chiefs - it’s not working - time to load up on offense.

6. Giants - Malik Nabers, WR, LSU
The Giants are in a tricky situation here and I would be on the phone taking trade calls. I’m not sure anyone would be willing to give up much after the top four quarterbacks are off the board though. With the top four quarterbacks off the board I’m going after a big time playmaker in Nabers. Daniel Jones might not be the quarterback of the future (on my team) but Nabers gives the next guy an established playmaker - something New York has to find eventually.

7. Titans - Joe Alt, OT, Notre Dame
The Titans have decided to go with Will Levis as their QB and I’ll go with that decision, for now. With a young QB in place I have two options for how I want to build this team - draft a premiere offensive tackle or a top receiver. I like the receiver options available but i love Joe Alt. Alt has the chance to become one of the best tackles in the NFL. I;m going to take my chance on that almost every time.

8. Falcons - Dallas Turner, Edge, Alabama
The Falcons should be set offensively and now we can bring in the top defensive player. I don’t care what position - I’m taking the best defensive player available. That happens to be Turner who is a very good fit, value and prospect. Falcons fans should be rooting for this pick on Thursday. And I think they are.

9. Bears - Olu Fashanu, OT, Penn State
I’ve got my QB and now I’m getting him help. The Bears have already added solid veteran receivers so I’m taking the best offensive lineman available. Fashanu has incredible feet and athletic ability to protect Caleb Williams and give him time to find those veteran receivers.

10. Jets - Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia
In this situation I’m calling the shots - but I do have Aaron Rodgers on this team and I need to keep him happy so he doesnt run off - or run for president. I like the idea of surrounding Rodgers with talent and going “all in” for the next year or two. Bowers could be a Pro Bowl caliber tight end in this offense and pairs very well with Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson for a very good young offense.

11. Cardinals - Rome Odunze, WR, Washington
I like the idea of trading down for Arizona. We have a ton of needs and now i’m loaded with three first round picks. With my first pick I can still get a very good receiver and have a few picks to address my many needs in this draft. It’s time to surround Kyler with some talent and size - something he hasn’t had much of in Arizona.
